CoExist Arts is an artist-run project space and artist studios. Our core aim is to provide critically engaged exposure for early career artists who want space to make and show their work.
A bit of background: CoExist first worked in partnership with Metal in September/October 2008. Using the ground floor of Chalkwell Hall, CoExist organised and ran “Project Lulu” - 6 mini-exhibitions over two months, showcasing local UEL MA Graduates, an installation art project space, a touring Posters and Poetry exhibition and three open submission group shows.
During 2009 CoExist have continued to work in partnership with Metal, and with Essex & Suffolk Water (ESW) to create TAP - a cross discipline working space for Southend on sea. This brings together five local Arts Organisations and the project will run for roughly two years.
